Every single one made from scratch.<\/p>\n

The room went quiet.<\/p>\n

My mother-in-law blinked. \u201cOh.\u201d<\/p>\n

I kept smiling. \u201cI figured chips deserved options.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greg stepped forward first, scooping up the onion dip. He took a bite. Then another. \u201cOkay\u2026 wow. This is actually incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The rest of the afternoon, guests kept asking who made the dips. Every time, someone else answered for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou HAVE to try this one.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope you brought the recipe cards!\u201d<\/p>\n

Later, as fireworks started popping in the distance and the trays sat nearly scraped clean, my husband slipped an arm around my waist. \u201cI\u2019m proud of you,\u201d he murmured. \u201cYou didn\u2019t have to prove anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

I watched my mother-in-law quietly spoon the last of the whipped feta onto her plate.<\/p>\n
