When I was 15, dad gave me all her stuff after his greedy ex tried to take some of mom\u2019s things, which led to a huge fight and dad broke up with her. Dad\u2019s sister wanted mom\u2019s pearl necklace and even attempted to steal it. Dad told me mom wanted her things to go to me so he was following her wishes. After he gave it all to me I packed it up and sent it to my grandparents for safekeeping.<\/p>\n<p>Then my dad met his fianc\u00e9e when I was 17. We didn\u2019t really connect and I moved out when I turned 18, that\u2019s when they started having kids, two daughters (now 7 and 6).<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Dad called me saying he needed to share &#8220;important news.&#8221; What he said stopped me cold. Turns out his fianc\u00e9e had discovered old photos of my mother wearing the pearl necklace and decided it would be the &#8220;perfect&#8221; heirloom for their daughters.
