He egged my car over Halloween decorations… so I let the city handle the cleanup 🎃🚓

My neighbor retaliated by egging my car when I parked in front of his Halloween display — so I decided to give him a “gift” that would stick in his mind.

After working twelve hours as a nurse the night before Halloween, I came home exhausted, only to find my landlord’s truck blocking the driveway. With midnight approaching and no other options, I parked in front of Derek’s house — the only open spot.

The next morning, my car was dripping with yolk and covered in crushed shells. A neat little trail of eggs led straight to Derek’s front door.

I knocked.

Derek answered, arms crossed, wearing a smug grin.

“Derek, did you do this to my car?”

He didn’t even deny it.
“Well, yeah. You parked in front of my house. You were blocking my Halloween decorations.”

I stared at him for a moment, then calmly said, “Alright.”

That afternoon, I went to the store and bought exactly what I needed.

By evening, Derek’s house was ready for Halloween — except every single decoration had been carefully tagged with laminated signs reading:

PROPERTY OF [MY CITY] — PLACED ON PUBLIC SPACE WITHOUT PERMIT

You see, Derek didn’t know that I help organize events for the hospital and work closely with the city. I knew the regulations well. Decorations were allowed… but not if they blocked sidewalks, emergency access, or public parking.

I made one phone call.

By dusk, city workers arrived.
They cited him.
They removed every decoration spilling onto the street.
They warned him about harassment and property damage — because yes, I’d already filed a report with photos of my car.

Halloween night came and went.

No decorations.
No foot traffic.
No smug smile.

The next morning, Derek knocked on my door and offered to pay for a full car detailing. He even apologized — quietly, without excuses.

I accepted the apology.
And I never had another problem parking on that street again.

Turns out, the best revenge isn’t loud or messy.
It’s knowing the rules — and letting karma wear a reflective vest.
