The patient blinked. “Then why are you giving it to me?”
The dentist adjusted his gloves. “Because it’ll give you something to hold onto while I give you the shot.”
The patient froze.
“You’re kidding… right?”
The dentist tapped the tray where the needle was already prepared. “Open wide.”
The patient looked at the pill in his hand, then at the needle, then back at the pill.
“…I suddenly feel very brave,” he muttered.
The dentist grinned. “That’s the spirit.”
