My sister kept dumping her newborn on me to go party, so I drove the baby straight to her date and dropped her off.

The second she left, I took the baby, packed a diaper bag, and drove straight to her new boyfriend’s house. I knew where he lived because she had bragged about his “nice place” non-stop.

When I pulled up, I saw her car in the driveway. I walked up to the door with the carrier and rang the bell. The boyfriend answered, looking confused. Over his shoulder, I saw my sister lounging on the couch with a glass of wine, looking completely relaxed.

I didn’t even wait for an invitation. I walked past him, set the car seat down on the floor in front of her, and said loud enough for him to hear, “I am not the parent. You are. I have work in the morning.”

My sister turned pale. She tried to stutter out an excuse, saying, “I thought you agreed!” but the boyfriend looked at her and asked, “You told me your mom insisted on watching her so we could have alone time.”

I turned around and walked out without another word. I drove home, turned off my phone, and for the first time in a month, I actually slept through the night.

She came home the next morning furious. Apparently, the boyfriend was majorly turned off by her lying and dumping her newborn to party, and he ended things. She screamed that I “ruined her life” and was jealous of her happiness. I just looked at her and told her, “Welcome to motherhood.”

Since then, she’s been forced to actually take care of her daughter. It’s tense in the house, but she hasn’t asked me to babysit once. I finally got my life back.
